Blazer® and Hot Shots®

Pellet Specifications*

As the labels imply, Blazer and Hot Shots pellets are a Premium Grade pellet. The pellets significantly exceed the specifications for this classification.

BTU (heat value): Although there is no formal spec for BTU value, the approximate value is 8,300 BTU's per pound with a possible deviation of ± 3% . Value is based on "as received" basis, at respective moisture content. Many pellet manufacturers state the value on a dry basis (zero moisture). This gives them a higher reading; however, since the pellets are not zero percent moisture, it is misleading and is not the correct basis as set by the guidelines of the Pellet Fuels Institute.

Species: Although there is no requirement regarding species, the predominant species utilized is Douglas Fir. Any additional species used is highly scrutinized to ensure the manufacturing of pellets which will obtain the results stated above.

Additional Note:

We offer the deviation information because the values cannot be stated in exact terms. Example: The ash content will not be exactly 0.3%, ton after ton, bag after bag, pellet after pellet. In fact, no pellet manufacture is capable of stating the values in exact terms.
